BENS Adds Fresh Expertise and Leadership to its Board

New BENS Directors - Spring 2024

BENS is excited to announce the election of four new members to its Board of Directors: Nick Cortezi, Raanan Horowitz, Jeremy Hitchcock, and Jim Smith. These distinguished leaders bring a wealth of experience and a diverse array of industry expertise to the BENS Board, reinforcing the organization’s mission to forge strategic partnerships and share best practices that enhance our Nation’s security.


  • Nick Cortezi, based in Florida, brings extensive leadership experience from his tenure as CEO of All Risks, Ltd. and his ongoing role as Director with Ryan Specialty. His background in international relations and public policy, along with his experience on numerous boards, positions him to contribute significantly to BENS’ strategic initiatives.
  • Jeremy Hitchcock, from New Hampshire, and co-founder and Partner at New North Ventures, brings entrepreneurial acumen and a strong background in technology and venture capital. His expertise in advancing innovation in the national interest aligns perfectly with BENS’ mission to harness business talent for national security solutions.
  • Raanan Horowitz, out of Texas, is a seasoned executive with a notable track record as the former President and CEO of Elbit Systems of America. His deep understanding of defense technology, innovation, and manufacturing competitiveness will be invaluable to BENS’ efforts to bolster U.S. national security through technological advancement and adoption.
  • Jim Smith, also based in Florida, is the President of TheIncLab and a veteran executive in the technology and consulting sectors. His expertise in developing intelligent applications and emerging technologies, particularly in the resilience space, will significantly strengthen BENS’ ability to prepare partners for future security challenges.

Mark Gerencser, Chairman of BENS, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, ” We are thrilled to welcome Nick, Raanan, Jeremy, and Jim to the BENS Board of Directors. Their diverse backgrounds and vast expertise across various industries will provide invaluable wisdom and energy to our Board.
