Join a conversation over lunch with Lieutenant General Dan Caine. He was sworn in as the Associate Director of Military Affairs for the Central Intelligence Agency on Nov. 3, 2021. His most recent assignment was as the Director of Special Programs and the Department of Defense Special Access Program Central Office at the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, where he served as the principal staff assistant and advisor to the Secretary of Defense for all programs protected under special access controls. He has served in a wide range of operational, staff, and joint assignments, primarily as an F-16 fighter pilot, weapons officer, member of the White House staff, and special operations officer.
On September 11, 2001, a beautiful, sunny Washington D.C. day, Lt. Gen. Dan Caine was an F-16 pilot and the Supervisor Flying for the 113th Wing of the Air National Guard based at Andrews Air Force Base. The squadron returned from Red Flag at Nellis AFB a few days before and had been demobilized after having a squadron photo taken Monday. When Lt. Gen. Caine arrived at the squadron that morning he had no idea how drastically his life, the squadron, the base, and America would be changed by the events of the day. He will share his personal experiences from that day of being airborne for over seven hours and his experience serving as the airborne mission commander over Washington, DC.

Report Launch: America’s National Security Vulnerability, Generic Drug Manufacturing & Biotech Innovation
Join a hybrid discussion marking the release of our new report, America’s National Security Vulnerability: Generic Drug Manufacturing & Biotechnology Innovation. While generic drugs account for more than 90 percent of U.S. prescriptions, the vast majority of their active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and key starting materials (KSMs) are produced overseas, often in geopolitically sensitive environments. Persistent drug shortages, limited surge capacity, and strategic chokepoints now present risks that extend well beyond public health to economic resilience and national security. During…
