Dallas Luncheon on US Army’s use of Directed Energy Weapons

Time Zone: America/Chicago

Local Time: Tuesday, July 13, 2021 12:45 PM – 2:30 PM

Luncheon discussion on the US Army’s use of Directed Energy Weapons with Kevin Moore of Kord Technologies.

The Pentagon is betting big that laser weapons, once firmly confined to the realm of science fiction, will prove to be critical battlefield technology. It took the Army with defense contractor Kord Technologies less than two years to build the first Directed Energy Maneuver Short-Range Air Defense system, or DE M-SHORAD — a Stryker A1 vehicle outfitted with a 50-kilowatt high-energy laser. Army officials want to field the first four DE M-SHORADs to soldiers by late 2022 to provide highly mobile air defense protection against new world threats like armed enemy drones. In March the Army and Kord proved through a battery of tests that simulated a battle environment DE M-SHORAD’s ability to locate airborne threats, instantaneously lock on and track and then destroy them in a matter of seconds. The technology has “game-changing” potential for close range air defense against the near-peer rivals. Kevin will discuss the current and future use of Directed Energy Weapons.and in particular the Directed Energy Maneuver Short-Range Air Defense system, or DE M-SHORAD, a Stryker A1 vehicle outfitted with a 50-kilowatt high-energy laser.

Report Launch: America’s National Security Vulnerability, Generic Drug Manufacturing & Biotech Innovation

Join a hybrid discussion marking the release of our new report, America’s National Security Vulnerability: Generic Drug Manufacturing & Biotechnology Innovation. While generic drugs account for more than 90 percent of U.S. prescriptions, the vast majority of their active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and key starting materials (KSMs) are produced overseas, often in geopolitically sensitive environments. Persistent drug shortages, limited surge capacity, and strategic chokepoints now present risks that extend well beyond public health to economic resilience and national security. During…
