Join BENS members and guests for a luncheon discussion on the evolution of warfare over four years of fighting in the Ukraine-Russia war with Josh Harris, President of Aegis Trade Solutions.

The opening sentences in the September 2025 Center for Strategic and International Studies article Technological Evolution on the Battlefield was:

“In war, soldiers get creative. They find new ways to use old equipment and ask for new technologies to solve problems as they emerge. In turn, those new technologies drive tactics and operations for warfighting in unprecedented and sometimes unpredictable ways. The party that innovates, procures, and adapts first secures an often insurmountable edge.”

The history of warfare validates those opening statements, and it has proven to be true in the four years of war between Ukraine and Russia where we have seen emerging technologies reshape battlefield tactics and weaponry in Ukraine. Josh Harris is retired Army Special Forces who was in Germany when Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022 and has been in and out of Ukraine for the past four years. Josh will discuss the evolution of weapons and how the impact of cheap, flexible, and highly-maneuverable intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance unmanned vehicles have changed battlefield tactics and strategy.

Speaker Background
Mr. Harris served in the United States Army for 24 years within Special Operations; serving in roles from Team Member to Senior Leadership Positions. Josh primarily served abroad in warzones and low intensity conflicts in the Middle East, Asia, and Africa for over 17 years, retiring as a Sergeant Major in 2021. During his deployment rotations, Josh identified “gap” areas within the government and corporate sectors that would greatly benefit from an independent team of “doers” with security clearances that could move at the speed of business with the surgical precision of government special mission operators. After earning his MBA from the University of North Carolina and retiring from the U.S. Army in December of 2021, Josh transitioned into the corporate sector founding Aegis Trade Solutions. Assembling a cadre of veterans with similar backgrounds, Josh moved Aegis into the Defense and Security sector offering training, real world operations advising, global logistics and warehousing and sourcing and procurement for UHNWI’s, family offices, the U.S government and multinational corporations.
