A few days before Mr. Xi’s summit with President Biden, Beijing dispatched a delegation of senior policy advisers and business executives to New York to meet with a U.S. counterpart group set up by BENS member Maurice “Hank” Greenberg, one of the most successful American businessmen in China.
On November 21st, General Daniel R. Hokanson, Chief of the National Guard Bureau, visited BENS Members in Chicago. GEN Hokanson discussed that with long-term and multiple deployments to combat theaters since the terror attacks of 9/11, Guardsmen and women have tirelessly served on the front lines at both home and abroad. They have helped evacuate and resettle Afghan refugees, vaccinated millions of Americans, and are training members of Ukraine’s armed forces in Germany while providing them materiel support as well…all while responding to persistent, record-breaking natural disasters in states around the US.

The Honorable Ellen M. Lord, former Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment
In this week’s episode of Building the Base, Hondo and Lauren join The Honorable Ellen M. Lord, former Undersecretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment, to discuss the future of the defense industrial network. Ellen emphasizes that commercial technology is becoming increasingly important to the warfighter. To that end, the DoD must have the capability to immediately grant a contract when they find a technology that fits a critical need.
This week, BENS members supported a workshop led by the Navy’s Tactical Advancements for the Next Generation (TANG) initiative, involved stakeholders from across the Navy. BENS members supported the discussion by bringing both subject matter expertise and a business perspective to the table. BENS is continuing engagement with the U.S. Navy on its maintenance modernization initiative and hopes to provide more opportunities to contribute to this important effort.
