Denis A. Bovin is Chairman and CEO of Palimere Group and Managing Member of Palimere Advisors LLC. Mr. Bovin’s distinguished career in finance and national security spans five decades and he has advised the senior leaders and governance boards of domestic and international companies and government agencies. He has helped initiate and implement some of the most consequential strategic and financial transactions in the commercial and government technology sectors.
Mr. Bovin served as a Senior Advisor at Evercore Partners, a leading global independent investment banking and advisory firm. He served as Co-Chairman and Co-CEO of Stone Key Partners and had previously served as Vice Chairman – Investment Banking, Senior Managing Director, and Chairman of the Global Technology, Media and Telecom Group at Bear Stearns. Mr. Bovin began his career at Salomon Brothers and ultimately headed the Investment Banking Corporate Coverage and Capital Markets Divisions. During that period, Mr. Bovin was selected by Institutional Investor magazine as one of the country’s twelve most outstanding young investment bankers.
Mr. Bovin is a Member and the former Chairman of the MIT Investment Management Company, which oversees the investment of approximately $28 billion in assets. He is a Life Member of the MIT Corporation. Mr. Bovin has served and led numerous non-profit and public policy organizations, including as a member of the Council on Foreign Relations; Chairman of the Overlook Hospital Foundation; Vice Chairman of Business Executives for National Security, Inc. (“BENS”); and Vice Chairman of the Intrepid Foundation. He serves on the Boards of Allied Universal, a $20 billion (revenues) provider of security services and systems; the Center for a New American Security; the National Security Advisory Board for Shield Capital; and the MIT Lincoln Laboratory.
Mr. Bovin received a Presidential appointment to the President’s Intelligence Advisory Board, which directly provides the President with non-partisan, objective advice on the conduct of US Intelligence efforts. He was a member of the Defense Science Board, whose members are selected based on their preeminence in science, technology and the military acquisition process, a founding member of the Defense Business Board, which advises the Department of Defense leadership on strategies for adopting best business practices; served as a representative to the Defense Policy Board and was a member and then Chair of the Secretary of the Navy Advisory Panel. He has also served on the Senior Advisory Groups for both the United States Southern Command and the United States European Command.
Mr. Bovin has been awarded the Department of Defense Medal for Distinguished Public Service, the highest honor that can be conferred on a civilian, for his “dedication and commitment to the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces” for his “vital and lasting contributions to the Department of Defense”; the Office of the Secretary of Defense Medal for Exceptional Public Service; and the Department of the Navy Superior Public Service Award. He is a recipient of the Intrepid Salute Award; the BENS’ Eisenhower Award; The Leatherneck Award from the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation for “demonstrating he qualities that characterize Marines”; an award from the Central Intelligence Agency and several awards and honors from MIT, including its highest honor for alumni. He is a contributor to the book: Keeping the Edge: Managing Defense for the Future; helped create and teach the course, “Business and National Security” at the Sloan School of Management at MIT; and has lectured at the United States Military Academy at West Point. Defense Daily named Mr. Bovin as one of the world’s 40 Most Influential People in global defense, aerospace and national security and Defense News named him one of the 100 Most Influential People in US defense.
Mr. Bovin is a 2018 recipient of the Ellis Island Medal of Honor, which is presented to citizens who have distinguished themselves while embracing America’s ideals of patriotism, tolerance, brotherhood and diversity, as well as recognizing individuals who share their knowledge, courage, compassion, talents and generosity with those less fortunate. The Medal has been officially recognized by both Houses of Congress as one of our Nation’s most prestigious awards.
Mr. Bovin received his B.S. degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an M.B.A. degree from the Harvard Business School.
