Katherine Gliwa
Travel Director
Katherine Gliwa serves as the Director of Travel and Membership Engagement at Business Executives for National Security (BENS). She brings extensive expertise in program administration to her role, having spent two decades at the Institute for Defense Analyses (IDA), where she provided comprehensive operational support to the Defense Science Study Group (DSSG). Established in 1986, the DSSG is a prestigious educational program designed to introduce leading science and engineering professors to the nation’s security challenges, encouraging them to apply their expertise to these critical issues. Directed by IDA and sponsored by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), the DSSG has been instrumental in fostering collaboration between academia and the defense community.
At BENS, Katherine leverages her experience managing complex, high-level projects to coordinate and oversee both national and international travel for members, facilitate interactions with U.S. military and related agencies, and lead efforts to expand membership opportunities. She resides in Alexandria, Virginia, and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from the University of South Carolina.
