
Raanan Horowitz

Raanan Horowitz is an accomplished CEO and business builder with a passion for seeking and achieving ambitious goals in highly competitive markets. As President and CEO of Elbit Systems of America until early 2024, he created a common vision, mission, and brand that grew the US subsidiary of a leading global defense technology company into a $1.5B enterprise. An influential board director and thought leader, Raanan is a member of multiple government–industry task forces focused on increasing US innovation and manufacturing competitiveness. He has a proven record of building enduring global relationships that have made a meaningful contribution to US national security.
During his career at Elbit Systems of America, Raanan was instrumental in establishing its US presence and spearheading three decades of growth. As CEO and member of the Board for 17 years, he led reorganization and growth focused on innovative global solutions across the defense, commercial aviation, and healthcare industries. Overseeing operations in multiple US locations that employed a workforce of 3,500, he built a world-class leadership team and unified marketing, engineering, supply chain, IT, finance, and HR functions. Motivated to always do the right thing, he established a culture that earned one of the “World’s Most Ethical Companies” designation by the Ethisphere Institute six times.
An accomplished board director, Raanan is respected for quickly identifying business levers for success, developing exceptional talent, and championing cultures of integrity. He currently is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Institute for Defense Analysis, and the boards of Parry Labs LLC, Business Executives for National Security, and the National Defense Industrial Association. He previously served on the boards of BigBear.ai [NYSE: BBAI], the Aerospace Industry Association, and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and was a member of Wall Street Journal’s CEO Council and the US Army Science Board, as well as organizations dedicated to developing strong economic and cultural bonds between Israel and the state of Texas.
Raanan is a recipient of the America’s Future Series 5 Star award and the US Armor and Cavalry Association’s Noble Patron of Armor award. He earned an MBA from Michigan’s Grand Valley State University and master’s and bachelor’s degrees in engineering from Tel Aviv University in Israel.
